The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah claimed the life of a 47 year old Cliff Gullett from Team Bullet Costella-Gullett Racing who was trying to establish a land speed record on his bike. Travelling at nearly 240 mkp, Gullet lost control of his bike and crashed into the salt plains. He had over a dozen land speed records under his belt and was competing in the 500cc class. The strange bit is that he crashed while on the return leg and therefore the record is pending ratification by the racing bodies and he might get the record even after his death. May the racers soul rest in peace.
